The Seedcare Program at Syngenta has many products for farmers and the program strives to be a leader in innovation and research.

“We really are bringing an innovative product portfolio to the market. We have a dedicated team of seed care specialists, as well as technical expertise from our Canadian Seedcare Institute. So, we do a lot of testing for products in the Canadian market,” says Karen Ullman, product lead for Seedcare at Syngenta.

“Along with that breadth of solutions that we bring in, we also have that trusted advice and market leading service,” she explains.

Syngenta’s portfolio has several products that can help farmers level up in the field this spring.

For cereals, they have Vibrance™ Quattro (VQ) and Cruiser® Vibrance Quattro (CVQ).

“Vibrance Quattro is an all-in-one fungicide solution for cereals that gives you that broad spectrum disease protection,” says Ullman. “It has the added benefit of rooting power from Vibrance which gives us healthy roots and plant stands, which leads to higher yields.”

CVQ has the same fungicide package VQ does, but also has the added benefit of wireworm protection.

The Cruiser insecticide portion of CVQ moves through the cereal seeds, and within the roots and shoots as seedlings grow and develop. Then, the systemic insecticide lies in wait for wireworms to feed.

“Combined with the wireworm protection, they're also going to get the vigor trigger effect which we did see that really come into play here last year because we had those cool spring condition. And what we saw is that treatments or seed that was treated with Cruiser Vibrance Quattro was out of the ground quicker and a leap ahead of some of the other products out there on the market,” explains Ullman.

Dividend® Extreme is another fungicide option for cereal farmers, it’s more economical but still gives early season seed and soil born disease protection.

When we look at pulse seed treatments, Vibrance Maxx RFC is a leading brand for Syngenta.

“We get broad, early season disease control compatible with inoculants that performs year after year and gives us that consistent yield. If you have aphanomyces concerns Vibrance Maxx RFC + INTEGO® is one of the few products on the market providing suppression of aphanomyces. Also, chickpea growers have depended on Apron® Advance to protect their crops from aschochyta promoting a healthy crop establishment, setting the stage for higher more consistent yields,” says Ullman.

New for 2022, Syngenta also has Vayantis® IV, a soybean seed treatment.

“It's really kind of a next level base seed treatment that delivers the next level performance of early season seed and seedling diseases, giving them the broadest protection. It really helps to get a strong stand so they can get a high performing crop. And it still has the combination of Vibrance, which gives you that rooting power during those drought conditions,” says Ullman.

If you’re looking for cut worm protection for your canola, Fortenza® Advance is a good option, says Ullman.

Other options for canola include Helix® Saltro® which is a seed treatment that focuses on giving you airborne blackleg control. Along with other smart agronomic practices like choosing resistance varieties, this product is a good choice for canola growers.

“It's really part of an integrated pest management system when it comes to blackleg,” says Ullman. WinField United Canada is proud to offer Helix Saltro Fortenza Advance on new CROPLAN® canola hybrids.

Although there are a lot of options for seed care products, Ullman encourages farmers to reach out if they have questions.

“Syngenta provides a high level of service in each province with dedicated Seedcare specialists that can answer your questions on applications and how the product fits in the market,” she says.

To learn more about your Seedcare options, talk to your local WinField United Canada retailer for more information.
