Advanced Acre Rx Program Gives Farmers Confidence in Agronomic Decisions

Corn Field and Silos

Using a systems approach is an excellent strategy to help you get the most out of your acres. The more holistically you think about management and the impact of your decisions, the likelier it is that those decisions will complement each other rather than working at cross-purposes.

The WinField® United Advanced Acre® Rx program is an agronomic prescription service that increases profitability potential for farmers while dialing back uncertainty by using a systems-based management approach.* One of the most intriguing things about offering Advanced Acre Rx for our retail business — United Farmers Cooperative in Red Oak, Iowa — has been the opportunity to provide a service warranty to farmers to demonstrate that we believe the practices we recommend will drive yield and profitability potential. And if the plan doesn’t deliver yield, we are able to mitigate uncertainty by giving farmers some of the money back that they used for extra inputs to help drive ROI and yield potential.

I've worked to get one of my farmers set up with Advanced Acre Rx, and here’s a bit about his experience.

Weather kicks in warranty for soybeans

I enrolled the farmer in the Advanced Acre Rx program in 2020. He had a positive experience with the program despite hot, dry weather at the end of the season. We received no rain for 45 days during soybean podfill, so those yields were well below average for this farmer as well as for farmers across our area of southwestern Iowa. As a result, my grower collected his warranty on soybeans, as yields for that crop fell below the 95% actual production history (APH) trigger that we had selected. However, his corn crop delivered yields that were above his APH, and he will be participating in the program again this year.

Flexible product selection

Another benefit of the Advanced Acre Rx program is that it offers a variety of service levels — Complete Rx®, Elite Rx® and Impact Rx™ — to meet the needs of each individual farmer. My farmer chose to enroll in the Elite Rx service, which is a total-acre solution that uses data and insights from the Answer Plot® program. Farmers have more product options with Elite Rx and can choose WinField United or partner brands for the seed and crop protection products that best fit their acres and agronomic goals. This farmer found Elite Rx particularly appealing because of the flexibility he had with product choices.

Encouraging a systems approach

For farmers who work with our cooperative, a systems approach is important because all areas of production impact each other — and therefore should work together. Ignoring one critical piece of the agronomic puzzle detracts from the other beneficial things that the farmer might have done and makes them less meaningful. The more opportunity I have to work with the customer to influence all the pieces of the puzzle with Advanced Acre Rx, the more opportunity there is for me to optimize grower yield potential, input dollars and ROI.

Advanced Acre Rx gives you greater ROI potential and allows you to invest more in your crop without having to bear all of the additional uncertainty. It provides you with more financial freedom to spend the last $30 to $40 per acre of input costs and know that there’s a warranty in place to protect you if conditions or the environment don’t work in your favor.

Talk with your local WinField United-affiliated retailer about how Advanced Acre Rx can give you confidence in your agronomic and economic decisions from seed selection through harvest.

*Agreement is required and conditions, restrictions and service fees apply. Percentage goals for the APH crop yield range from 95–105% for corn and 95–100% for soybeans.

Important: Before use always read and follow label instructions. Crop performance is dependent on several factors many of which are beyond the control of WinField United, including without limitation, soil type, pest pressures, agronomic practices, and weather conditions. Growers are encouraged to consider data from multiple locations, over multiple years, and be mindful of how such agronomic conditions could impact results.
