In-Season Management


  • Forage sorghums are commonly grown under stressful conditions and in lower-fertility soil. When plants are stressed nitrogen uptake is stored as nitrate for growth, and to sustain the life of the plant.
  • Stressed plants will not convert nitrate into usable protein, resulting in high plant concentrations. High nitrates can be toxic if fed to cattle.
